Sanctuary Tours

We are always pleased to have the opportunity to show visitors Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary. Tours may be requested by calling 503-873-9818 or by email. Please do not come by without making arrangements with our staff.

As we are often involved in animal therapy or humane education activities, we request one to two weeks notice for individual or small group tours. Tours for larger groups such as school, community, and retirement groups can be accomodated but require a minimum of three weeks notice in order to arrange for adequate staffing.

We are also pleased to provide a short "driving tour" for those with decreased mobility or for those who prefer to remain in their vehicle. Please let us know if there are limitations or special needs so we may make every effort to accomodate these.

Because of staffing costs for tours, we suggest a minimum $4.00 donation per person.

Tour Guidelines

The following guidelines are designed to provide a safe, positive experience for both visitors and our four-legged residents. Most of our animals come from situations of abuse and neglect and many have medical issues that require a respectful approach.

  • Please wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots to accommodate the irregular terrain if planning on exiting a vehicle
  • There is no smoking or alcohol allowed on the Sanctuary property
  • Because of the agitation it may cause to our residents, personal pets are not allowed on the property or in vehicles on the property
  • Please do not feed or approach any animal resident without the consent of the tour guide; we are happy to provide "snacks" for you to give to the four-legged residents
  • Visitors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Please remember to place ALL trash in a secure recepticle or carry it out with you; anything left lying around could easily become a deadly "snack" for our four-legged residents
  • Due to the abuse many of our residents endured, please avoid making loud noises, yelling, or engaging in running while on Sanctuary property
