The Sanctuary Site

Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary is located up in the rolling hills just south of Silverton Oregon, near the Oregon Gardens.

The 22 scenic acres rise from the main road to a wide hilltop meadow with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside.

There are two barns for the animals, one shed for the small vehicles we use to move easily about the hilly property, and a lovely house with facilities for our human visitors.

The hillside offers the four-legged members of our family a nice variety of sunny slopes, ancient orchards, and tall sheltering trees.

Organic gardens and a greenhouse are situated in sunny spots lower on the slope.

The large white lower barn is home to most of the barn cats (though inexplicably, the one with allergies prefers the upper barn where the hay is stored).

Unfortunately, the sanctuary can no longer take in cats or dogs. Please try the following links for further help for cats or dogs:

The road up the hillside to the upper barn passes through the fields through which the goats and llamas roam freely.

If the climb seems daunting, just ask for a lift!

The newer upper barn is the primary shelter for the goats and llamas in incliment weather, with feeding racks both inside and out in the surrounding pastures.

Covered pens along one side allow animals to be separated from the herd for routine grooming, medical attention and shearing. New rescues who have graduated from isolation in the lower barn are placed in these pens as part of their gradual introduction to the rest of the herd.
