Humane Education

Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary is pleased to participate in public events and activities fostering the humane treatment of animals. Percival at the Silver Falls Library

Our current activities in this realm include school presentations and school tours of the sanctuary, a Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary booth (with four-legged friends, of course) at appropriate events and fundraisers, "Reading to the Goat" at local libraries, and presentations at local civic groups and clubs. "Goat Care 101", one-hour classes covering topics important to goat owners.

We are very happy to be able to affirm that the list of activities in this area is continuing to grow due to public requests.

If you are interested in working with us on such an event, please fill out our on-line application and submit via email or regular mail using the addresses below.

Young guests brighten our day...

Our goats thought all those little boots and irrepressible squeals of joy were magical!

Even the llamas smiled from a distance.

Thanks for the visit, Oregon Children's Developmental Coalition!... "and come back with carrots" bleats Tony Llama. He can be so demanding.

Memories of August 2011

Marigold's gypsy petal skirts spinning in our buckets of paint; swirling brushes splashing laughter all over the day! Thank you HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley for your generous donation of paint, paint- brushes and buckets – we would be grey and dusty without you!

The Boys and Girls Club (of Woodburn, Oregon) inspired two young Portland artists, Amber and Chris, to design a goat mural for our barn. The twelve-foot mural was sketched out like a giant coloring book by Amber and Chris. Slaying the dull barn wall, (sticky from Augusts' heat), the Boys and Girls Club, painted with double barrel paintbrushes.

Drips of Marigold yellow and Chili Pepper red were not touched up, but left on the goat mural to remind us all that art is not about perfection; art is about inspiration.
Every inspiration, a miracle.

The Boys and Girls Club ably and joyfully assist us in creating a mural in the white barn
