Our Mission

At Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary, our mission is to exemplify and encourage compassion for animals and humanity by the provision of a permanent and loving home for ill, abused, and neglected goats and llamas; and to provide a healing and learning environment with these animals for special needs children and adults.

"A Galaxy of Goats", March 2-31 at the Silverton Arts Association

Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary and the Silverton Arts Association are honored to host
"A Galaxy of Goats" for the whole month of March.

By highlighting the beautiful faces of the creatures we care for, we hope to share the serene, hilarious, sacred and healing presence of these animals! It will make you look at goats in a whole new light.

February Goats of the month - Rochelle and Fritz: A Love Story

Rochelle is a dainty female LaMancha goat. "Dainty" yes, but one of our toughest goats. Her nickname is Little Warrior. Rochelle is 50 lbs with the teeny tiny ears characteristic of her breed.

Fritz is a Nubian male, about 250 lbs, with long lop-ears.

Their attraction began in the summer of 2011, steamy skies rolling over the hillside. Together Fritz and Rochelle dug out a wallow in the cool dusty dirt and could be found cuddling, napping, or catching up on goat gossip.

And so it began....

Sanctuary Saturdays

Every Saturday from 9:00 am - Noon, we are inviting the community to join us in some good, old-fashioned, outdoor, hard work for the animals!

SHOULD I VOLUNTEER?

Volunteers must be reliable, understanding, responsible, and able to commit their time. You can come help feed, take care of animals, clean, help with one-day projects, raise funds, concentrate on construction, listen for and record the needs of our animals, or just spend time with them. Furthermore, we offer anyone the chance to create their own project with us. If you have ever wanted to foster a relationship with a furry friend, or just create a home they will never forget, you are exactly who we are looking for.

WHO BENEFITS?

You, me and our four-legged friends! Our 87 goats and 7 llamas absorb every kind word and touch. In the non-stop daily lives we lead, we two-legged folks can sometimes forget the unconditional love that animals give. Every moment spent with our special individuals teaches us how to live and what is unique and wonderful in every creature.

Unlocking the gate, you really unlock yourself! You can come and test your boundaries in the middle of a herd of goats and a landscape that rivals any postcard. Chloe, Jean Luc and Sophia will welcome you and teach you how to take care of them! If not you, then who?
